This workshop proposes to explore Contact improvisation through the lens of the Tuning Scores, to bring them into dialogue, to move from one to the other, to let things inform one another, and observe how it transforms our practice.
The Tuning Scores developed by artist Lisa Nelson bring into play collaborative processes, based on communication between the performers and rooted into sensorial experiments. The Tuning Scores play also with a porosity and a dialogue between practice and observation, between seeing , sensing and imagining. The eyes touch, the skin sees, the listening is tactile or even kinesthetic; these modes of perception capture our attention so well that our gaze is often filled with wonder.
Bringing Tuning scores and CI into dialogue is an attempt to bring physical laws and our images/sensations into dialogue and, observe in real time this moving composition.
This workshop is part of a three-day immersion in Contact Improvisation on May 14–15–16. The program includes several workshops, a jam, a conversation table, and a performance evening. You are welcome to join one or multiple parts of the program!
