During "New dialogs w/ Mileen & Stéphanie," Mileen Borgonjon and Stéphanie Auberville meet on the dance floor to co-create.
Stéphanie Auberville is a dancer, improviser, and choreographer based in Brussels. She has been practicing improv performance since the early 90s. She has been influenced by the work and research of artists such as Lisa Nelson, Deborah Hay, Simone Forti, and Nancy Stark Smith. In 2002, she met Nita Little and was her assistant from 2005 to 2009. Since 2003, she has been teaching instant composition and contact improvisation in the form of weekly classes and workshops. She regularly invites other artists to teach, organizes jam sessions, and hosts meetings or research labs. Her lessons are based on perception work and often take the form of research that she shares with participants.
Mileen Borgonjon is a dancer and performer, primarily at home in the field of improv performance and passionate about contact improvisation. For her, CI is a source of inspiration for movement research and a platform to reflect on the great 'encounter' and improvisation we call 'life'. She enjoys interacting dynamically and playfully with the movement principles of this practice, with a nod to poetic layering. Her own journey as a mover, dancer, and performer led her thru various master's programs in 'instant composition' and thru inspiring movement and somatic methods including Thai yoga massage, Breathwork, Gaga, the Ido Portal Method, and Playfight.
This workshop is part of a three-day immersion in Contact Improvisation on May 14–15–16. The program includes several workshops, a jam, a conversation table, and a performance evening. You are welcome to join one or multiple parts of the program!
