The 'Buurtatelier' is open to anyone who wants to connect with others in an artistic way, totally free of charge. It is not a “traditional” course, in that sense that it's rather a moment to come together and work on a specific theme or technique (e.g. portrait, colour, collage or landscape).
The focus of this atelier? Textiles. So bring all the fabrics you have at home and, if you like, your own sewing kit. WISPER will also provide lots of materials.
As usual, we are providing examples for inspiration and start with a short joint warm-up exercise to get acquainted. After that, we'll continue in groups and eventually you will work at your own level and pace.
This 'Buurtatelier' is guided by Anisa El Margai. Together with Marissa, our educational staff member for Visual Arts, she will be there to provide guidance, help and support, if necessary.
Important note: normally, the 'Buurtateliers' take place on Sunday afternoons, but during the summer week, it will exceptionally take place on a Friday evening!
Check www.opek.be for more information about how to get here. At the first session, you will be welcomed by someone from WISPER who will tell you exactly where in/around the building your course takes place.
Good to know if you take a full-day course here: for the lunch break, you can bring your own lunch, eat in at Café Entrepot or buy something at the Lidl supermarket around the corner.
