The autumn 'FLUX-atelier' series focuses on typography, with one Friday a month dedicated to exploring a different aspect of typography.
Here is the November 'FLUX-atelier': typographic urban scavenging
Street signs, posters, stickers, signposts, etc. – letters and words are everywhere around us, just waiting to be picked up. But why do some forms appeal to us more than others? And how can we make them our own?
In this workshop, we’ll collect, cut out, rearrange and combine letters and words from our everyday life. Using found fragments, we’ll construct new messages: words become images, images become statements.
What happens when you send that new language back out onto the streets? How does a message’s meaning change when it is relocated?
Inspired by this 'FLUX-atelier'? Then be sure to check out the other ateliers.
Check www.opek.be for more information about how to get here. At the first session, you will be welcomed by someone from WISPER who will tell you exactly where in/around the building your course takes place.
Good to know if you take a full-day course here: for the lunch break, you can bring your own lunch, eat in at Café Entrepot or buy something at the Lidl supermarket around the corner.
