In this series, we’ll embark on a rhythmic journey around the world: from West African basic rhythms to Colombian cumbia, from Brazilian samba to contemporary pop grooves.
The WISPER congas form the backbone of our percussion band. We complement the grooves with shakers, hands, sticks, cowbells and woodblocks.
We focus on ensemble playing, hand and stick technique, and explore the characteristic feel of different styles from all corners of the world. In this way, we build a strong rhythm collective. For anyone who wants to get to know all kinds of rhythms and discover a rich array of percussion instruments!
Check www.opek.be for more information about how to get here. At the first session, you will be welcomed by someone from WISPER who will tell you exactly where in/around the building your course takes place.
Good to know if you take a full-day course here: for the lunch break, you can bring your own lunch, eat in at Café Entrepot or buy something at the Lidl supermarket around the corner.
