Where words fall short, music acts as a common language. It allows us to tell others something about ourselves or, better, to build a unifying, shared narrative. That is why we want to bring together musicians of all kinds and from different backgrounds to make music together.
Our aim? To mix and match different musicians with eachother! In this way, we bring together different languages, backgrounds, cultures and ages.
All instruments are welcome in this jam session: from saxophone to guitar, and from oud to derbuka and ukulele! Perhaps you’d prefer to use your voice as an instrument. Great! That’s more than welcome in this jam session too.
Skill level doesn’t matter at all; both beginners and advanced players have a place in our colourful orchestra. We’ll start with improvisation or with ideas from the participants. Who knows, we might even create our own song as we go along!
This is a workshop organised as part of the ‘Samen Veerkrachtig’ initiative.
Check www.opek.be for more information about how to get here. At the first session, you will be welcomed by someone from WISPER who will tell you exactly where in/around the building your course takes place.
Good to know if you take a full-day course here: for the lunch break, you can bring your own lunch, eat in at Café Entrepot or buy something at the Lidl supermarket around the corner.
