From facial portraits to full-length figures, from status symbols to everyday scenes, and from idealised beauty to capturing someone in their purest form; people remain an inexhaustible source of inspiration to look at and to draw.
In this session, we’ll explore this together. We’ll start off in a playful way, using collage as a means of exploring poses and facial expressions. From there, we’ll move on to portrait and life drawing. Along the way, we’ll experiment with various drawing materials such as pencil, charcoal and oil pastels.
Technical guidance on proportions and shading will certainly be covered, but the focus lies elsewhere: how do you bring a drawing to life? How do you capture emotion, movement and a personal perspective on paper? It’s less about perfection, and more about presence – about finding a way of seeing and drawing that is truly your own.
WISPER Gent is situated at the Dok Noord site. Make sure to read the information on our Dok Noord page beforehand because this place can be a bit of a maze when you first come here.
