Are you fascinated by the nuances of emotions and would you like to learn how to grasp them and express them artistically? Do you enjoy telling stories as a group and use your own physicality in those stories? Are you looking to practice interplay and tuning in with the audience, to be self-consciously present on stage? Or do you just want to discover what all this means?
Playback theatre is an original and innovative form of improvisational theatre in which we reflect personal stories. 'Replayers' within a chosen playback form use their whole body and consciousness in a creative way to show the story in movement, text, dance, sound, song ...
This intensive workshop offers participants the opportunity to learn and apply the fundamental elements of Playback Theatre by sharing and bringing to life their own narratives. We search for the universal experience in the stories. We look at different dimension within the story: from intrapersonal over relational to social. Playback theatre aims to suspend judgments, create a safe space for each story and make personal stories relatable to others. We work in a playful and spontaneous atmosphere.
Designed for actors, dancers, and anyone intrigued by physical theatre and storytelling, this workshop places a particular emphasis on ‘embodied movement’. Together, participants will collaborate to craft a performance, culminating in a test-showcase on the final day with participants from another course as audience.
