When you learn someone else's material and dance language, it opens up your own dance body. You really get to know your own body and dance language better. You not only learn new movements, but also try to taste and interpret every nuance of this language with your own dance body and language, which are constantly challenged and enriched.
During this course, you will dive into Kim Ceysens' repertoire material every morning for five days. We start each time with a short physical and technical warm-up, after which we get to work on Kim's repertoire. We almost literally step into her dancing shoes.
We will then open up this dance material, reinterpret it and bring it back together with something of our own. Throughout this process, we will talk about what can make choreography complex, rich and intriguing.
Those who know Kim know: it will be physically challenging, there will be blissful music, there will be sweating. Central above all else is the joy of dancing fully. We will learn to consciously trace, experience and use our physical sensations and emotions as colour in choreography.
Looking forward to it? So are we! Moreover, there will be several courses during the autumn break in Ghent at Dok Noord. At the end of this special week, we will get the chance to see what others did in their courses. Other groups will also get the chance to take a look at what we did with the repertoire.
