During this course, the dynamic world of dance and the wonderful world of textiles come together in a crossover guided by our teacher Francesca.
First we take time to get to know the fabrics and materials provided. We'll look at the difference in patterns, textures & colours before getting to work with them while dancing and improvising.
How does a rough texture translate into a quality of movement? What happens when you start combining different textile colours and patterns both literally and figuratively in your dance or improvisation? Can a garment play the role of a restriction in a dance improvisation? Which solutions can we adopt to still arrive at a composition? To these and many more questions we try to find an answer, or at least a direction. All during this dance special.
The ultimate goal? After the necessary playing and improvisation, a lot of creative input and exchange with each other, arriving at new sources of inspiration for your own dance language.
Check www.opek.be for more information about how to get here. At the first session, you will be welcomed by someone from WISPER who will tell you exactly where in/around the building your course takes place.
Good to know if you take a full-day course here: for the lunch break, you can bring your own lunch, eat in at Café Entrepot or buy something at the Lidl supermarket around the corner.
