How do we put our bodies on stage? How do we get into physical contact and play with our bodies? For this course, we start from the principles of contact improvisation and explore partner work in improv. In addition, we use inserts from physical theatre to engage in dialogue with each other. Together, we will discover the physical possibilities of our moving bodies on stage. We lean, hang, throw ourselves completely and learn how to do it unscathed. From there, we join hands and create interesting, dynamic scenes.
Our ultimate “goal”? Arrive at a new movement vocabulary to work with both on stage and during partner work.
