Jill Sigman is an American artist whose work and practice lie at the intersection of dance, visual art and social engagement. She choreographs with bodies and materials. By working with things we discard, such as “rubbish” and “weeds”, Sigman helps us to re-examine our environment and imagine a future in which we reconnect with each other, nature and the world around us in a meaningful and empathetic way. Throughout her career, she has collaborated with activists, lawyers, anthropologists and farmers. She is currently working on a project about soil and memory of land. Finally, she runs a social justice movement laboratory for artist-activists.
