Waacking is all about self-expression, freedom, emotional connection and idiosyncratic performance. During this short try-out course, you will be introduced to the world of storytelling and performance through improvisation. Your own personal creativity will be constantly stimulated. The aim here is for everyone to express themselves freely and uninhibitedly with unique, original and spontaneous movements.
As a dance and culture, it originated in the 1970s in the club scene of the LGBTQ+ community. Waacking happened mainly to funk and disco music, in the clubs that were a safe space for all socially oppressed groups to express themselves freely. Waacking is inspired by Old Hollywood: you are a walking story, bringing your own legend to life in smells and colours.
