Close harmony is a polyphonic singing style in which the different voices and tones are close together. In close harmony voices run along and through each other and make strange leaps. This creates - within the chords - a lot of friction: precisely this gives this music a unique palette of sounds.
In this course we will pay attention to musical skills such as sensing tempo and rhythm, playing with dynamics and feeling stable within an arrangement of voices. We will delve deeper into timbre and blending and look for the right blend, harmony and timing. We will learn sounding multi-part arrangements and venture into unadulterated close harmony.
For our repertoire, we’ll play with material from The Andrew Sisters, Billy Joel, Sweet Honey In The Rock and The Beatles, among others. Led by Indie Pop star-to-be Anu Junnonen (Junn), you will learn to blend the different voices into a beautiful whole.

Good to know if you take a full-day course here: for the lunch break, you can bring your own lunch, eat in at Café Entrepot or buy something at the Lidl supermarket around the corner.
