In this series we take a rhythmic world tour: from basic African rhythms to Colombian Cumbia, from Brazilian Samba to contemporary Pop grooves.
We make rhythm with shakers, with hands on congas and cajons, with sticks on cowbells and woodblocks. But for a true percussionist, any material is a source of rhythm! So we also work with tubs, chairs, tables, feet and a whole lot of imagination.
We emphasize ensemble playing, hand and stick technique, that typical Latin feel and solid rhythm grooves. For everyone who wants to get acquainted with all possible rhythms and discover a rich range of percussion instruments!
Check www.opek.be for more information about how to get here. At the first session, you will be welcomed by someone from WISPER who will tell you exactly where in/around the building your course takes place.
Good to know if you take a full-day course here: for the lunch break, you can bring your own lunch, eat in at Café Entrepot or buy something at the Lidl supermarket around the corner.
