Sofie Palmers is an actress, singer, theatre maker and podcast creator. In her work, she explores what moves her in the world. In doing so, she is constantly seeking new perspectives and a balance between humour, vulnerability and comfort. Sofie has already collaborated with various theatres and companies, including Skagen, De Hoe, BRONKS, hetpaleis and Martha!Tentatief.
In addition, she is increasingly creating her own work, ranging from daytime performances for young audiences to evening shows. With her musical solo ‘In de Coulissen’, she presented a personal and light-hearted self-portrait, combining singing, piano and a loop station with text and performance. As a director, her work includes the youth production ‘Off the Record’ at fABULEUS, which premiered in February 2022. Together with Sien Eggers and Jessa Wildemeersch, she created the productions ‘L’étude (nu slaat de chaos toe)’ and ‘Den beer heeft mij gezien’ (ARSENAAL/LAZARUS). In these productions, they take a close look at texts from the repertoires of Shakespeare and Chekhov, before translating them into contemporary female roles, in their own frivolous and disarming way.
Finally, Sofie also works with audio. Among other things, she created the children’s podcast ‘Radio Fiona’.
