Simon Baert

Simon was born in 1999 at University Hospital Ghent and spent his childhood in De Pinte. After high school, he began studying illustration at Luca school of Arts Ghent, where he graduated in 2022. Simon relates to his visual language through various media, but in recent years he has created an intimate bond with his pen and ink. With a twisted wrist, he conjures a knot of visual scenes that test the limits of the prevalence of figurative drawing. In terms of content, the drawings often translate absurd stories originating in ancient myths or sagas. Humor is central to both his work and his daily life.
