Jimmy Kets obtained a Master's degree in Graphic Design & Illustration from the LUCA School of Arts in Antwerp. After graduating, he immediately started working as a photographer at De Morgen. However, he has since moved to De Standaard, where he still works today. Throughout his career as a photographer, Jimmy has won several awards, including the Nikon Promising Young Photographer Award and the Nikon Award for Best Visual Story.
In addition to his work in photojournalism and portrait photography for newspapers and magazines, Jimmy has exhibited extensively both nationally and internationally and published several photo books, including Brightside, Volkscafés, Niet Miss and The Graves Are Nice This Time of Year. In 2013, he directed his first documentary film, OdysSea. Since then, he has worked regularly as a cameraman on various TV projects. In 2023, his film New Pigs on the Block premiered, which was nominated for an Ensor and won the Grand Prix at the Matsalu Nature Film Festival in Estonia.
