Jan Van der Veken studied graphic design and typography at the Sint-Lucas Institute (Ghent). He soon developed his own characteristic style, inspired by the Atom style and with references to plastic art and especially pop art.
Since 1999, he has operated under the name Fabrica Grafica. In that time, Jan has established himself in the national and international illustration world. His work is a continuation and reworking of the Clear Line, and Atomic style, a school to which he has always remained faithful. Although always drawn on commission, his work offers an insight into his personal universe and sphere of interest. Van Der Veken's work appears nationally with DeStandaard, Humo, Standaard Boekhandel and KBC. And worldwide at Wall Street Journal, New York Times, Wired Magazine, Esquire, The New Yorker.
In 2013, Gestalten in Berlin published his first monograph and in 2016 he was awarded the annual Culture Prize of the City of Ghent.
