Işıl Bıçakçı

Işıl (1986) was born in İstanbul and graduated Contemporary Dance at Mimar Sinan Fine Arts University. She has worked with Ann Van den Broek in Belgium and with İstanbul State Opera and Ballet (MDTİst) as a dancer. Consequently she started making choreographies for MDTist and extended her professional career also as choreographer.

Her curiosity about the physical and mental limits of humans made her continue to develop her abilities. She was taught by the world’s foremost whirling instructor, Ziya Azazi. She now also spreads the knowledge of this ritual worldwide, while she continues as an instructor, performer and choreographer.
