Helena Vandecasteele

Helena Vandecasteele is a dancer, creator and teacher. In 2017, she graduated from Codarts - the Rotterdam Dance Academy - specialising in contemporary dance and improvisation & composition. After those studies, she worked closely with David Zambrano, founder of Flying low, Passing Through and instant improvisation and composition methods. In 2019, Helena participated in 60 Days.

She dances freelance in her own work and in works by choreographers such as: Kamil Pilarski, Conny Janssens, Leine and Roebana, Christina De Chatel and others. As a maker, she is mainly active with Roots Compagnie, a contemporary dance company that makes dance for and with vulnerable young people. For her, dance is a language spoken by everyone in their own way.
