On Friday mornings in the studio, you’re given a challenging exercise that provides a structure within which you can freely explore and experiment. Whatever happens on the canvas, you follow it intuitively. You keep searching, revisiting, painting over. Sometimes it leads nowhere, sometimes a shape appears that you can build on. It might even become a finished painting.
Both pure form, color, and composition as well as figuration can be part of this series. The message: go with the flow!
After a short group warm-up, you work independently on a longer assignment, where you explore at your own level the boundaries of your personal way of working.
Every week brings a new angle: it can be a theme, but just as easily a movement in the arts, a specific artist, or a particular technique. We aim for new insights and regularly step outside our comfort zones, keeping in mind: you learn by trying.
The group is an important factor in this process: we interpret each other’s work, exchange tips, and talk about painting. You try, vary, understand, interpret — and take it further.
Check www.opek.be for more information about how to get here. At the first session, you will be welcomed by someone from WISPER who will tell you exactly where in/around the building your course takes place.
Good to know if you take a full-day course here: for the lunch break, you can bring your own lunch, eat in at Café Entrepot or buy something at the Lidl supermarket around the corner.
