Language & teacher(s) Dutch/English

In contemporary dance, the floor is your ever-present dance partner. However, for us adult Westerners, meeting the floor up close is not always such a soft and smooth affair. Luckily, we can change that!

This series focuses on techniques and principles for organizing our bodies in motion gently and efficiently on, off and to the floor. We'll work on how to find continuity in your movement, and how that continuity can keep on flowing as you move up and down in the room.

Before you know it, the space in and around you becomes one swirling movement! Expect a mix of improvisation and fixed movement material.

Practical

Wear layered clothes in which you can easily move, so that you can easily adjust your clothing to the temperature (extra socks, long trousers, extra sweater ...) Bring a bottle of water and a pair of soft knee pads.

Level of experience

Level 1: you never took a contemporary dance class before OR you want to improve your knowledge of the basic techniques (many of our students take the basic course more than once before continuing with an advanced class).
