In this course, we'll delve into the organized (and sometimes chaotic) beauty of primarily European folk dances. These are collective dances from various countries that have been passed down from generation to generation, right up to the present day.
These dances follow fixed steps, but no dance experience is necessary. It's all about having fun and connecting with others.
Some dances are done in rows, others in pairs, trios, quartets, or with everyone together. You don't need a partner, but keep in mind that you might be dancing with someone you don't know. Bring your openness to something different and super fun.
Party class
The final class is a party class open to the public: an evening with lots of dancing and little explanation. We expect everyone who comes to be at least at a beginner's level.
Once you've completed the course, simply come to the dance floor. Would you like to invite friends or family who are already folk dancers? They are more than welcome. We do ask for a small entrance fee for them.
Mark the date for this festive class in your calendar now: Friday, May 29th from 8:00 PM to 9:30 PM.
Check www.opek.be for more information about how to get here. At the first session, you will be welcomed by someone from WISPER who will tell you exactly where in/around the building your course takes place.
Good to know if you take a full-day course here: for the lunch break, you can bring your own lunch, eat in at Café Entrepot or buy something at the Lidl supermarket around the corner.
