Carolina Van Eps Jimenez

Carolina Van Eps Jimenez is a dancer, performer, creator, and activist. She grew up in Colombia and has been living between Brussels and Ghent for several years. The social and political realities of her home country continue to shape the way she sees, feels, and create; as an artist as well as in everyday life.

The possibility of honoring and activating places — from their tangible presence to their invisible layers of memory — is what moves her the most as an artist. She works towards open moments of reflection about care, belonging, and the subtle ways we inhabit and relate to our environments.

Her dance practice is rooted in somatic awareness and contemplative movement, especially qigong and Contact Improvisation (CI). Through CI, she learned to follow the spirals of life that pass through all bodies—sometimes rising toward light, sometimes guiding her into deeper, subterranean spaces where grounding and connection grow. This practice helped her root branching into other bodies, communities, and landscapes.

Carolina often works with deceleration as a gesture of psychosocial well-being, a way to slow down enough to sense, listen, and reorient attention. She also guides Travesías Calle_Jeras, a platform of sensitive walks and listening practices that invite people to discover their surroundings with renewed presence. Finally, she is also of the Colombian Collective for Peace, in which she even has collaborated with varies ministries of Culture and Education in Colombia.
