With a background in architecture, Agata Wala moved from Poland to Belgium to study drawing at KASK in Ghent. Agata is currently pursuing a master's degree in Fine Arts, where she explores themes such as rituals, memories and transformation through mixed media. She works with installations, drawings, videos and performances, among other things. Her artistic research is deeply rooted in her Polish rural origins, with a particular focus on Marzanna – a Slavic ritual figure symbolising winter, death and rebirth – which she reinterprets in a contemporary context.
