Koen Boesman

Koen Boesman is a director, writer, theater teacher and artistic director of BRODER, where, together with composer Peter Spaepen, he explores the boundaries between musical, opera and music theater. He studied at the Toneelacademie Maastricht (teaching/directing), taught theater courses (WISPER, zZmogh, King Kevin, Open Doek, De Markten ...) and now teaches himself at the Toneelacademie Maastricht. He has directed several performances for youth theater, social-artistic projects, amateur theater and professional companies, such as D°eFFeKt, Cie Tartaren, TG Vagevuur, Aardvork, De Kopergietery.

Koen writes his own texts and makes text adaptations, mainly in function of music theater performances. The basis is always a process of in-depth content research, co-creation with a multidisciplinary artistic team and research into the narrative power at the intersection between language and music.
